We are a leading contract manufacturer of printed circuit board assemblies in the Pacific Northwest where we build, test and ship boards for some of the world's leading companies in the wireless, semiconductor and building control markets.

We currently have a requirement for a full-time Production Manager to join our manufacturing operations at our facility in Burnaby BC. This individual will directly manage manufacturing operations, as well as oversee subordinate supervisors and production employees.  S/he will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of department personnel in pursuit of corporate production objectives.  Responsibilities will include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addresessing complaints and resolving problems.  The successful candidate will be a versatile self-starter with strong supervisory, organizational, multi-tasking and communication skills, who can positively motivate teams to exceed expectations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direct management to manufacturing operations, including SMT, Hand Soldering, Mechanical Assembly, Selective/Wave Soldering and Shipping.
  • Assume responsibility for formulating and leading strategic objectives relating to production.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Metrics for production department and take action to meet goals.
  • Participate in team and/or departmental meetings, and provide significant input into the development and implementation of strategic management objectives.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Coach and train production leadership and assembly teams in CI methods/tools and problem-solving techniques.
  • Evaluate, coach and review supervisors(s) and individual manufacturing employees to exceed OTD requirements.
  • Perform production planning and monitoring functions including job scheduling, revision and cost analysis.
  • Proactively monitor and implement capacity planning initiatives.
  • Manage production departmental cost to budget, and develop plans to reduce costs and overhead.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow; design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confer with senior management team concerning equipment needs to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Effectively introduce new products to the production floor.
  • Uses established information management systems to provide production times, staffing requirements and related costs to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Assure that production transactions are properly recorded in information system.
  • Develop and implement key quality initiatives at production level.

Job Skills and Qualification:

  • Minimum four-year degree or diploma in Engineering, Operations or Manufacturing.
  • 5+ years experience related to production management.
  • Sound knowledge of electronic components and EMS services strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.  Certification of both is an asset.
  • Able to read and comprehend technical drawings and components datasheets.
  • Knowledge of Expandable (or other MRP/ERP systems) and Aegis an asset.
  • Proven track record of success in a high-pressure, fast-passed manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership, presentation and resource allocation skills.
